Google’s John Mueller responded to a question about whether Google’s guidance on LLMs.txt is contradictory. His answer shows why Google considers LLMs.txt speculative for now and why WebMCP, a Google-backed proposal, might be what SEOs and site owners should be looking into. “Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.” said Obi-Wan Kenobi. It came back to me this week when I read a LinkedIn post from Rand Fishkin, which opened with a sentence I’ve never seen him write before: “I almost never write blog posts anymore, but this one […]
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Google has spent 25 years learning how to measure user satisfaction in Search, including engagement, sessions, return behavior, and bounce-backs, saying that those metrics help Google improve AI Search. When asked about the concept of Google Search traffic dwindling to zero, the Google Zero scenario, Pichai insisted that the reality […]
Most business owners assume that higher star ratings are linked to better business outcomes. A peer-reviewed study tested that assumption directly. Researchers Eddie Inyang and Juliana White surveyed 251 U.S. small-business owners on online reputation management, Google star ratings, and business performance. The sample skews toward commercial, buying-intent queries and leaves out navigational searches. So the figure describes a specific slice of search, not Google overall. What Peec Found For decision-stage […]
Welcome to the week’s Pulse. Each update this week influences what can appear inside Google’s AI answers, and why. Google brought Preferred Sources into AI Overviews and AI Mode, new data looks at how personal data changes which brands appear in AI Mode, and Google’s CEO discussed AI Overview quality. If you want to go […]
